Oh, now this is just something else… I could only imagine the feelings of grace and beauty that would be experienced upon seeing this lady, draped in such an exquisitely patterned and coloured dress. Kimonos always seem to be designed for such a purpose, to enhance the mystery and beauty of the lady wearing it.
As far as drawing to reference goes, you’ve definitely done a quality job. In particular I really liked the fact that you emphasised the blue colouring in her dress, and it’s a great enhancement in size given how small the original photo was. Each pattern right down to the fine lines has been recreated perfectly, and you’ve given her hair and face some extra life with those streaks of white shading throughout.
There’s definitely a lot to appreciate in this portrait, perhaps enough to warrant it a place in my “Honorary Class” collection, whatever that means to you. From the beautiful colours to the new look in the hair, it’s clear that you’ve done an excellent job recreating this piece from scratch. Keep it up!
Being accepted in any collection means a lot to me; I feel honored !
However, it would be the correct thing to do as a Deviant to post a link to the original. Not hard to do - just edit the deviation and add the link into the text box. After all, doesn't it always make us happy to know that our work is appreciated?
